Montreal, October 22, 2018 – Abilis Solutions announced today a new collaboration with IBM to simultaneously expand capabilities to address complex offender information management challenges in corrections agencies around the world. Montreal-based Abilis, known for its CORIS® Offender Management System (OMS), will leverage the presence of skilled IBM public safety experts in key markets around the world to increase its local delivery and support capacity. Today’s announcement took place at the kick-off of the 20th annual conference of the International Corrections and Prisons Association in Montreal, attended by more than 600 corrections executives, public policy experts and academics from over 70 countries.
With help from the Abilis partnership, IBM immediately broadens its array of proven applications for justice and public safety agencies around the world. This collaboration includes a commitment for both parties to work together to create an IBM CORIS® center of excellence focused on the deployment and support of the CORIS® OMS. Further, it ensures that IBM public safety consultants can deliver CORIS® expertise, on-the-ground project management and delivery services, and locally-based support resources for corrections agencies.
“This agreement with IBM is an important step forward in our corrections business strategy,” said Eric Le Goff, President and Chief Executive Officer for Abilis. “It extends our ability to deploy and support OMS modernization projects for agencies in numerous countries around the globe. We believe the combination of our corrections domain expertise, our proven CORIS® OMS and IBM’s strong presence in large public safety agencies around the world, positions both companies to add significant, immediate value to the market.”
“Agency leaders face significant business challenges, primarily centered on ensuring safety and security across the correctional enterprise and improving outcomes for offenders while reducing recidivism. For many agencies, these challenges are compounded by the presence of inflexible, legacy information systems,” said Riz Khaliq, Vice President, IBM Global Government. “With support from IBM, Abilis will be able to launch new Cloud-based offerings, integrate cloud delivery in its existing solutions and infuse AI into the CORIS® OMS with this relationship.”
The CORIS® Offender Management System, proven in multiple corrections agencies worldwide, provides a standards-based, enterprise-class solution that integrates all correctional business processes into a single, offender-centric environment. CORIS® drives greater efficiency and data integrity into correctional operations and provides the platform necessary for agency leaders to confidently address strategic and operational priorities.
